‘The Number Plus’, a popular Japanese Sports Magazine, asked its readers, ” Who do you think is the best current active wrestler in Japan?”
The last time the magazine polled it’s readers, in 2015, they chose Hiroshi Tanahashi (The 1/100 Talent).
And this year…
It was Tetsuya Naito (the leader of Los Ingobernables de Japon) topped the poll which included 30,ooo votes.
Naito tells the magazine that he feels so grateful that his style is reaching so many wrestling fans, today.
Naito was a devoted fan of NJPW since childhood, and decided to pursue wrestling for the promotion at the age of 15. His expedition in Mexico was the big turning point in creating the persona he has today.
The web site, Aozora Puroresu News, reveals the first top 10 chosen in the magazine.
Note: The voting was compiled using a point system (pt=points). It isn’t limited to NJPW, but wrestlers who currently or recently have worked in Japan.
